Socket sets include a ratcheting wrench and several sizes of socket heads. Once the socket is placed on the fastener head, the ratcheting mechanism allows you to turn the fastener by a continuous, repetitive motion: there is no need to lift or reposition the wrench. By keeping a socket set with a variety of sizes, you can equip yourself to handle any number of nuts and bolts.
