I have had this product for a few months. The good is that it holds the bits and extension very securely. The bad: EVERYTIME I have used it it jams either closed or open so that it takes extraordinary work to get the locks to open or close. This seems to be due to grit getting into the balls that seat the bit/ extension. The grit prevents the balls from moving so the lock can rotate into a position to lock or release the bits. Yes it work fine the first time. I have taken care to lube and clean EVERY TIME it use it. Even when I put it away working smoothly, it won't work when I try to use it again. To open or close it I sometimes have to lube it as well as possible, then put it in a vise and try to move the locking collars, sometime taking a hammer and punch to get them to move. There is no way to take the adapter apart to clean it. The balls that lock the bits in are inaccessible. The best you can do it to try spray lubes to get inside and manipulate the moving parts. Since you wouldn't be using this tool unless you were working in concrete, which makes grit, the situation is impossible. The only thing I can think of to remedy this would be to wrap the exterior with duct tape to protect the collars, and plug the ends of the adapter after inserting the bits with heavy grease to keep grit from getting to the inside. If I had done this on the first use, it MIGHT still be working smoothly. Ultimately, Milwaukee should make the adapter so that it can be taken apart and cleaned and lubed.
