How to use the ear plugs: 1. Both hands and earplugs should be clean before use. 2. With one hand, slowly roll (rather than squeeze) one earplug into a small cylinder. 3. With the other hand, reach over your head and pull gently up and back on the upper part of your ear. 4. Insert the compressed earplug into your ear canal, rounded end first. 5. Hold the earplug in place until it expands to fill your ear canal.
How to use the NRR: The level of noise entering a person's ear when hearing protector is worn as directed, is closely approximated by the difference between the A-weighted environmental noise level and the NRR. For example, if the environmental noise level as measured at the ear is 92dB(A) and the NRR of the hearing protector is 32 decibels (dB), then the level of noise entering the ear is approximately equal to 60db(A).
Caution: For noise environments dominated by frequencies below 500 Hz, the C-weighted environmental noise level should be used.
Improper fit of this device will reduce its effectiveness in attenuating noise.
Although hearing protectors can be recommended for protection against the harmful effects of impulsive noise, the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) is based on attenuation of continuous noise and may not be an accurate indicator of the protection attainable by against impulsive noise such as gunfire.
