Featuring a 12V LITHIUM-ION battery, the HACKZALL cuts over 80 pieces of 1-1/2" PVC on a single charge. The 2420 delivers a 1/2" stroke 3,000 times per minute for a smooth yet aggressive cut, and utilizes a key-less QUIK-LOK blade clamp to ensure quick and easy blade changes. The lightweight design offers less user fatigue as well as one-handed operation. Compact design makes it easier for users to access tight spaces or awkward angles. Handy, but battery hog and not much power

I like the size of the tool and it is handy for certain things - wood and plastic in particular. However. I tried using it for pruning a plum tree - drained a battery on three branches that were no bigger than 3/4". With a new pruning blade, too - it mostly just shook leaves off the tree and cut slowly. Very disappointing. Also used it to cut up a piece of 1/2" allthread - two cuts and the battery was dead, and it took forever to cut. Maybe the brushless version is better but at this point I am not going to waste any more money to find out. I have a bunch of M12 tools that are mostly awesome but this one is a definitely not - avoid it.

Small, light, and easy to use. Would recommend.

I really like how small and light this thing is for jobs around the house. Much easier to grab than my big corded sawzall for small projects. The battery doesn't last long enough for big jobs, but with a spare you shouldn't have a problem. I have used it to cut wood, metal, plastic, and drywall over the past year and a half. It works great on everything so far. I have the soft bag case for it and the 3/8 drill/driver, but wish there were an option for a hard case for storage.

Waste of money

Used this tool for 4 weeks before motor burned out. wasn't worth the money for sure. If the motor was stronger it would be a great tool.

Nice & lite but HARD to remove battery

Nice and light, plenty of power but I had a REAL HARD TIME removing the battery. Tried several different batteries, the compact ones & the ones shaped like a boot (XC 4.0). Sometimes the battery came out easy But mostly it was a struggle. Bought & returned 2 of these before I had to go & buy the M18 HACKZALL Reciprocating Saw (2625-20). Come on Milwaukee, fix this!

Great for small projects

As an Electrician, I bring this little guy in for service call work or the instances when I need just a few cuts. It offers terrific capability in a super small package. If you've got to cut some drywall, make a few cuts in studs or flooring, or you just need a super small tool then this is your go to recip saw. For major remodels I go to my 18V Fuel saws all. My only critisisms after a year of continual use is the amount of vibration the saw produces while trying to cut conduit and the fact that the batteries are very hard to remove from the tool. I had another trades guy tell me he has the same problem. Overall I love the tool and originally thought it would be just a toy. Definately not a toy. Based on my like for this tool I plan to upgrade to the Fuel version. Nice job Milwaukee.
