I have used Milwaukee tools for over a decade, both professionally and as a hobbyist. My current job does not require me to use power tools, so I have to come up with excuses at home to use them. With this drill I have done countless repairs around my house, as well as friends and family. I have also done some automotive repairs, built a shed, hung some curtains, and even mixed a cake with it when my Kitchenaid mixer went out. If this drill won't put a hole in it, you probably will need a gun. I have used it with the 1.5 amp, 3 amp, and 4 amp batteries. They all have more run time and torque than should be allowed by law, and it goes up incrementally as you might imagine. If you are worried about weight, get a smaller battery, but they simply don't last as long as the bigger, heavier ones. I don't have a 5.0 amp battery, but I would venture to guess it's amazing. If Milwaukee wants to send me one, I would gladly review it in great detail for them! Honestly, I can't imagine why I would need a battery that lasts that long. If I were still in the contracting business, I would consider it a must though. Down time means wasted time. With a brushless motor, this will last you many years without a loss of performance, or the need to replace brushes in the future. In my humble opinion, if you want a toy, buy an orange tool. If you want a father's day gift, buy yellow, blue, grey, or green. If you want a TOOL, buy red. Hands down, this drill will out perform, outlast, completely outmatch all others. It is a bit bigger and heavier than others, so if that is a concern, maybe try the M12.
