Must have for concrete drilling!!

I used a corded rotary hammer for many years before switching over to a cordless one. Aside from the fact that I no longer have to think about extension cords or having a power source, Milwaukees cordless rotary hammer performs overall better than the corded brand that I was using. I work in a lot of job sites that do not have power so having the ability to bring a tool in without concern for a power source is a huge time and energy saver which equals saving money. The hammer comes with a side handle for maximum control while using the tool and a depth rod to ensure proper depth when drilling. Connecting and removing bits are super quick and easy. This hammer comes in three different modes that allow you to drill into softer materials, a hammer drill mode for masonry drilling, and a hammer mode which I use for breaking up concrete or removing tiles. The tool itself weighs 7.8 lbs and I typically run the tool with an 8.0 High Output battery which puts the tools at a little over 10.0 lbs. Very well balanced and comfortable in the hands after extended use. I own a 14 acre property that I recently purchased and I have been doing work all over the property doing renovations and landscaping. I have had a need to drill 1+ holes into concrete to run PVC for drip irrigation and also to run low voltage and CAT 5 lines for intercoms and lighting. The convenience of being able to run tools anywhere without having to lug around extension cords makes this cordless rotary hammer a no brained investment for me. One of the buildings on my property is 20000 sq ft and we are doing a complete remodel, and the entire building has no electricity. This hammer has come in handy to break walls and walls of tile in the bathrooms inside the very small stand up showers where swinging a hammer is not possible. I only use 8.0 high output or bigger batteries with this hammer and go through 2-3 batteries for all day use. Using a 1 1/8 masonry bit it takes about 30 seconds to drill down about 6 with this tool and the side handle allows for me to have good control and apply sufficient pressure when drilling into concrete. Cordless tools are a bigger investment and its always a concern whether or not cordless performs as well as corded, but for me Milwaukee has proven that cordless is better. This rotary hammer performs better and overall is a better tool than all the corded versions I have used over the years!!

Drills through hard rock

I got this tool to drill 5/16 in holes in local granite for splitting boulders and fixing bolts, and it works very well. It has enough power to drill quickly, yet still get enough holes out of a charge in hard rock. The shock absorption is a nice feature as well, with almost no uncomfortable vibrations from drilling. The tool also has a nice light on it which is great for drilling around boulders and into crevices. It is a bit heavy though, and with multiple batteries and bits it can be a pain to carry long distances, but for he amount of work it does it is worth it. I do also wish that they would include more room in the hard carrying case for batteries and bits.

better than expected

use in our remodeling business, cords are a hassle and safety issue, we have several fuel tools from Milwaukee, don't know which one i like the best, they all save me time, money. thanks Milwaukee engineers !

Unbelievable power ;)

Never seen such a powerful cordless rotary hammer with 18volt batterys. Milwaukee changed the way I think about cordless tools with they Fuel-Technology. I hope they will also upgrade the rest of they M18 and M28-line with they fuel-technology. Cant wait to see new produchts with this new technology inside. Milwaukee NBHD ;)
