The mag drill is well built, and well thought out.
The location of the on/off button is great
The removable handle is a great, and being able to put on either side is very useful, also capable of using a ratchet if need be.
The sliding dovetail works well, allowing for long bits to fit.
The magnetic coolant tank is nice, and again it is able to fit on either side.
The lighting is great with a separate switch for illuminating the cutter
and the manual magnet works well allowing for slight clamping pressure before max holding in case you need to adjust position... and it has lots of power
Also the high and low speed are geared which is great, in a pinch I have done a 2" annular cutter with this unit.
What I don't like,
The quick chuck is ok if you are using an annular cutter 1" or larger
If you are using the included drill chuck adapter, the quick chuck is garbage. It is un usable. There is too much play up and down and a drill bit will not spin center it just wobbles in any direction.
Improvements needed for next gen
instead of a permeant quick chuck, have a Morse taper, this way the mag drill is much more usable. You would be able to put in a quick chuck, or a regular drill chuck, or a drill bit with a Morse Taper, or many other adapters and there would be no play at all.
Second, it needs to be variable speed.
The slow speed is still too fast for certain applications.
A geared Variable speed would work much better.
Other companies that produce mag drills already have these two features in their mag drills.
