Love this tape measure!

Great price and design. The new compact tapes are just too flimsy and unfortunately I can't find these anymore, discontinued?

Lots to recommend but far from perfect

I do everything from cabinetry to trim carpentry to occasional rough carpentry. I need a tape that can work short distances with accuracy and the longer measures for stud and sheet marking/cutting. I love the way the molding creates a shape that falls right to hand with indent for finger. The fat base is a clear indication that real use considerations influenced the design. What is a feature also turns out to be a flaw when it comes to the design of the locking lever. Many times you don't want to lock the tape, just hold it, then easily retract. This lever allows for that in a way that I have not experienced any other tape being able to do. Call it partial lock with easy release. On the other hand, when I do want the tape to lock and stay extended the lever is too hair trigger and can easily lose the locked position. Just bumping the tape as I position it can cause the lock to release. This hampers layouts where I want the tape to stay extended. If this lock worked better the tape would be a home run.
