Should have spent a few more bucks

Overall this is an okay tool. The blade needed honing - no surprise. The sole was reasonably flat with a small low spot near the heel. The mouth adjustment plate doesn't sit quite flush with the sole. Some work on a surface plate will be needed. The biggest disappointment is the blade depth adjustment mechanism. Turn it to advance the blade and find you've moved it too far - then takes TWO FULL TURNS of the adjustment knob before the blade starts to retract. Overshoot the mark and it takes two full turns to start it advancing again. The slop come from the "pin" for (lack of a better term) part that rides on the adjustment knob shaft not fitting tightly into the hole on the cap iron. There is only 7 thousandths different between the hole and the pin, but that's enough to make it feel sloppy. I see no way of getting rid of the slop.Maybe this wouldn't bother some folks. Bugs the **** out of me. So simple to prevent with a little bit tighter machining.
